The film from Disney and Pixar Toy story 5, which made the transition from theaters to the home entertainment market is scheduled to be launched on digital in August 2014 and on physical-media in September 2014. Toy Story 5 was released purely in theatres, and started in UK cinemas on 19 June 2026. This was the fifth instalment in the nine-year-old series and features many of the most popular characters from the previous four films, but also discusses a modern issue in an all-new way the role of technology in childhood play.
The official Disney blurb is ‘Toy meets Tech, and the toys have a battle on their hands against the all-new Lilypad, a hot new tablet device…’ Following its cinema release, the film is now transitioning to its home-release span.
Toy Story 5 is set to be available for digital download and rental on the 18 th of August, allowing eager fans to enjoy the film from their own home much sooner. This date is around two months after the film was released in cinemas. A pattern which the studio has followed for quite a few of its latest animation features.
It will be released physically a few weeks later on 22nd September in time for the release of Toy Story 5 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. The 4K Ultra HD option will be available to collectors as a backup to streaming and digital downloads and they will be able to complete the set of Toy Stories on their selves: The film is played out now as it makes its way through the home entertainment market.
The fifth film is also released and has the great Tom Hanks playing Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as Jessie. The new character Lilypad is being voiced by Greta Lee. Other returning voices include Conan O’Brien, Tony Hale, and Keanu Reeves, Craig Robinson and more. The story also brings a new fascinating contemporary conflict to the series. Woody Buzz Jessie and the other toys will no longer be fighting just regular toys or childhood excitement, but the rising authority of technology in the children in their lives.

Kenna Harris is co-director and the movie is produced by Lindsey Collins. Randy Newman who has won the Oscars for movie scores is also returning to compose the score.
